Friends of the Valdez Animal Shelter

Volunteers at the Valdez Animal Shelter improve the lives of numerous dogs, cats, and other four-legged animals. You take dogs for walks, groom cats, assist with cleaning the shelter, donate your time and skills to numerous fund-raising initiatives, assist in finding homes for numerous homeless animals, among many other equally significant deeds of compassion.

Through proactive education and enforcement, we want to protect the safety and wellbeing of all borough inhabitants. We also want to set the bar for excellent animal care procedures.

The Alaska SPCA makes sure that all adoptable animals are neutered, registered, and microchipped before they travel to their new homes.

Until they are adopted, the Alaska Humane Society provides them with housing, food, and any necessary medical treatment. Every cat that is not adopted remains our property for their whole lifespan. We operate a no-kill facility.
