Over 50 years have passed since Achille Agway first opened. In the 1950s, George Achille, Sr. founded it as a chicken farm. George bought his feed from Eastern States by the carload. This quickly developed into a side venture providing feed to other nearby farmers. This business was so prosperous that he opened his first location in Peterborough, New Hampshire, in 1965. In 1977, this location was enlarged.
