Noe Valley Pet Company first opened its doors in 1999 on the corner of Church and Cesar Chavez Streets. Animal enthusiasts Paula Harris and Celia Sack founded the boutique, which they dubbed a "mom and mom" shop. (Just down the corner, Celia and Paula own Omnivore Books, one of only a few culinary bookshops in the United States.)
